Dr. Werner Rom has more than 20 years of experience in research, technology development and innovation, in leading positions in a multinational environment, among others at LG.Philips, SWARCO, EFKON, ecoplus – the business agency of the province of Lower Austria, Virtual Vehicle Research, Joanneum Research, University of Aarhus/Denmark and TU Graz.

Werner Rom has a PhD in physics from the University of Vienna. He held a research professorship at the National AMS Research Laboratory in Aarhus/Denmark and is author and co-author of about 70 publications (most of them peer-reviewed). He is currently a lecturer at the FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences. He is also a certified “Senior Project Manager” (cSPM), IPMA Level B.

Over the past 20 years, Werner Rom has initiated and coordinated a plethora of funded R&D projects at national and European level with up to 60 partners from 12 countries from industry and academia. In the course of this, he received the “ECSEL JU Dissemination Award” in 2017 for the two major European projects DEWI and SCOTT. Werner Rom has also established sustainable technology networks and coordinated strategic national roadmaps. He served as an official UNIDO delegate on the topic of “nanotechnology” in Belarus and as the Austrian delegate in the standardisation working group ISO/IEC JTC 1/WG 7 “Sensor Networks”.

In August 2020, Werner Rom founded the non-profit organisation SYRION in Graz/Austria.

DI (FH) Jörg Worschech has more than 15 years of professional experience in the fields of research & development, innovation, and consulting at national and European level.

Jörg Worschech studied electrical engineering with a specialization in communications engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm (DE) and then held various positions at different large and medium-sized companies, including BMW, SEL Defence Systems (merged into Nokia), Unternehmensberatung H & D GmbH, EFKON AG, SWARCO AG or ecoplus – the Business Agency of the Province of Lower Austria.

His fields of activity included project and multi-project management, process management, business process modelling, software development, quality and configuration management, system design, database design, database management and systems, national and international military project acquisition and management, process as well as business and technology consulting.

In recent years, the focus was on initiating and implementing national and European research and development projects in the areas of energy systems for avionics and rail applications, mobility & mobility services, alternative drivetrains, automated driving, as well as process and organizational analysis, cost analysis and digitalization.

In August 2020, Jörg Worschech founded the non-profit organization SYRION in Graz/Austria together with Werner Rom.
